“Istanbul Convention, State Occupiers, Transgender Prostitutes VETOed”: Narek Malyan

To Istanbul Convention - veto, state occupiers - veto, transgender prostitutes - veto, said Narek Malyan, the leader of “VETO” social-political movement during the protest action against the ratification of the Istanbul Convention in front of the Council of Europe office.

"The notorious Soros’ office beneficiaries are engaged in exhortation of the Convention," Malyan said, noting that the ratification of the Istanbul convention began months ago when a journalist decided to publish some letters she received in which anonymous individuals reported being subjected to violence.

"In fact, the initial exhortation stage of the Istanbul Convention was not only falsehood and counterfeit, but also an impudent mockery of real victims of  violence."

According to Malyan, in the countries where the Convention has been ratified, there have been no positive dynamics for the prevention of violence. “Moreover, Armenia is in a much better position in this index than many countries that have ratified the Istanbul Convention. Legally, our country's legislation has no drawbacks within the framework of the fight against violence, which can be eliminated by ratification of the Istanbul Convention,” said Narek Malyan.

The latter is of the opinion that the Convention is devoid of practical significance, and its ratification has a number of real and covert aims.

"By the ratification of the Convention, the term "partner" is first introduced in the Armenian legislation, replacing the term "spouses". That is, transgenders fall under the protection of this Convention as partners. The concept of "biological sex" is replaced by the concept of "social sex", "said the leader of “VETO” social-political movement.
